A Very Zen Addition to OKC! July, 2020
A very unique and zen B&B in a quiet NE corner of OKC has just opened! WangShi Palace is a perfect blend of luxury, culture and comfort. The indoor pool is a great place to relax, or retreat to the comforts of one of the 20+ rooms available - two of which float above the pool area! The WangShi team is friendly, helpful and will ensure your stay if fantastic!

My husband and I had to go to Oklahoma for a funeral and had not made reservations. After the funeral we started searching for a place to stay. Somehow we came across WandShi Chinese Palace and knew we had to try it. If you like trying out new and different experiences you must visit WangShi! It's owned my an elderly architect (Dow) that designed it and his younger Chinese wife (Victoria). The B&B just opened in June of this year, amidst Covid, so it's not very busy and things are new and fresh.
Dow is so much fun to visit with. He's a Marine that worked with artillery so he's hard of hearing but he still has his wits and humor. He's very successful and has an interesting story. His wife Victoria is so sweet and accommodating. She makes a lovely buffet breakfast but if you'd like a fried egg instead of the scrambled offering she will fry you up some eggs. If you don't want to go to breakfast (6:40-10:30 while we were there) they will deliver a complimentary breakfast to your room. Breakfast in bed! The entire staff is very helpful and aim to please.
The palace started out as a mid century modern home that was glass on the back and had a pool out back. Dow enclosed three pool in an atrium and built guest rooms all around it. I think he said there were 26 rooms. Look at the rooms hanging over the pool! It's a mid century modern with Chinese accents everywhere. Victoria even sells Chinese jade jewelry in cases by the check in desk. All rooms come standard with a popcorn popper in case you want to stay in the room and watch a movie. The grounds have several areas to walk and a picnic area in the back. There is some exercise equipment by the pool if you feel the need for cardio but I was told there are walking trails too. The lounge has a well stocked bar, a pool table and table tennis. There are also comfy couches in front of a fireplace to sit and visit. Free WiFi and coffee/tea makers.
Valet parking is free and they will even send a complimentary limo to pick you up at the airport.
We got a kick out out of being in a unique hotel and Dow kept us entertained at the bar that night.
If you're an open, friendly spirit I would highly recommend trying WanShi. We had a lot of fun!
